# Do a survey / measurement and retrieve the quantity takeoff

## Carry out a survey / measurement and retrieve the quantity takeoff for a project in minutes

### The Scan

With an iPhone Pro (12 or later) or an iPad Pro (2020 or later), perform a precise survey / measurement, accurate to 98%, in just a few minutes, right on site.

1. Open Visuary and tap **New project** > **New scan**&#x20;
2. Move your device through the space following the on-screen instructions
3. Tap the icon **Camera** (bottom right) to photograph an item of interest — the photo will be automatically located on the floor plan
4. Hold down the icon to leave a **audio comment** note during the visit

> 💡 Your client will see that every point has been taken into account — with comments and photos to back it up, nothing is forgotten.

### The floor plan and the quantity takeoff

Tap **Save and continue** at the end of the scan. Your floor plan is generated automatically.

Once your scan is completed, **rename your project** to find it more easily by clicking the 3 dots at the top right in the app or on the project name directly in the browser.

**From the Scan tab, you can:**

To see the wall areas and dimensions in the Scan:&#x20;

1. **Click on the dot in the center of the walls whose area you want to know** (you can select the interior or exterior façades).&#x20;
2. The wall dimensions appear directly on the walls
3. The total area calculation is visible in "**Selected area**" and each selected wall is added to it
4. To exclude openings from the area calculation, uncheck "**Count openings**"
5. To include your sloped ceilings, check "Enable sloped-ceiling import" and "Re-import" (if you have already imported your plan)

**From the Existing floor plan or Renovation floor plan tab, you can view:**&#x20;

* **Overall quantity takeoff** : wall and floor areas, volumes, partitions in linear metres, skirting boards, list of equipment by room
* **Per-room quantity takeoff** : Ceiling height, total area by room (floor, walls, openings) and all detailed quantity takeoff by room

> 💡 The Quantity takeoff updates automatically every time the plan changes.
