# Tiling

Tiling: Survey / Measurement, Quantity takeoff, 3D and installation plan

*Get all your areas and linear measurements in just a few minutes — floors, skirting boards — without measuring by hand.*

## The Scan

**With an iPhone Pro (12 or later) or an iPad Pro (2020 or later), create a precise survey with 98% accuracy in just a few minutes.**

1. Launch Visuary and tap **New scan**&#x20;
2. Move your device around the space by following the on-screen instructions, scan a maximum of 40m² before moving on to the next zone.
3. Tap the Camera icon to **photograph constraints** (obstacles, thresholds, removal of existing elements, etc.) — the photo will be automatically located on the plan
4. Press and hold to **leave an audio comment** about **points requiring attention and work to be planned**
5. Complete your scan to access the dimensions and quantity takeoff from the survey.

Once your scan is complete, **rename your project** to find it more easily by clicking the 3 dots at the top right in the app or directly on the project name in the browser.

## Retrieve areas

Once the scan is complete, find your project on Visuary (visuary.app) from your computer or tablet — the plan is automatically synced.

Once the project is open:&#x20;

1. Switch to Scan view: click on **each wall to view its individual area**, **uncheck** openings to get the **net tiling area** for each wall
2. <mark style="background-color:yellow;">Open Existing floor plan → Quantity takeoff to find, by room and overall:</mark>
   * Floor areas in m²
   * Wall areas in m²
   * Skirting board linear measurement in linear meters
   * Areas of finishes applied to the plan
3. Switch to 3D view to see the finishes applied by default — tile in wet rooms, carpet in dry rooms. These finishes are listed in the quantity takeoff.

## Apply your tile&#x20;

On the Renovation floor plan, apply your tile over the default finishes to refine your quantity takeoff and preview the render.

1. Switch to the Renovation floor plan tab&#x20;
2. Select the Finishes → Floor tool&#x20;
3. Switch to 3D view and apply the floor finish by clicking on it
4. Select the Finishes → Walls tool&#x20;
5. Switch to 3D view and apply the wall tile by clicking on the wall&#x20;
6. Retrieve the area of each applied finish in the quantity takeoff.

Adding Finish / Covering to skirting boards works differently; you can choose to apply the floor Finish / Covering, wall Finish / Covering, or the default Finish / Covering:&#x20;

## Create a Reference plan

From the 2D plan, annotate zones directly to prepare the installation or send instructions to your team or supplier. Review your comment pins and transfer key points requiring attention into text annotations so they can be read directly on the plan.

1. Review your comments from the pins on the plan
2. Enable the "Annotations" layer by clicking the eye icon at the bottom right of the screen.
3. From the button **"Annotations"** select the "[Text box](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#les-annotations-textes)" tool to indicate constraints — "Screed required", "Removal of floating parquet" — and items to add: "Threshold bar"
4. Use the "[Highlight](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#surligner)" tool to color the room and indicate the finish used in this space with a color code created using the "[Shape](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#forme)".&#x20;
5. You can also add dimensions visible from the Annotations tool — they will appear in the PDF if the [Measurement lines](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#les-cotes-visibles) layer is enabled.
6. Click on the PDF report to choose the views and download the plan as a PDF
