# Parquet flooring

Parquet flooring: Survey / Measurement, Quantity takeoff and installation plan

*Get all your floor areas and linear meters in just a few minutes — floor, wood flooring, skirting boards — without manual measuring.*

📱 This article covers the features available on the Essentiel plan.

## The scan

{% endcolumn %}

{% column %}
**With an iPhone Pro (12 or later) or an iPad Pro (2020 or later), carry out a Survey / Measurement with 98% accuracy in just a few minutes.**

<p align="center"><a href="/guide-visuary-en/the-scan/perform-a-scan.md#consulter-ici-la-liste-exhaustive-des-appareils-compatibles" class="button secondary">All compatible models</a></p>

1. Launch Visuary and tap **New scan**&#x20;
2. Move your device through the space following the on-screen instructions, and scan a maximum of 40m² before moving on to the next Zone.
3. Tap the camera icon to **photograph the constraints** (obstacles, thresholds, level changes...) — the photo will be automatically located on the plan
4. Press and hold to **leave an audio comment** on the **key points to watch and work to plan**
5. Finish your scan to access the measurements and Quantity takeoff for the Survey / Measurement

{% hint style="warning" icon="lightbulb" %}
&#x20;Example comments used: "Allow for parquet board repairs" and "Step to be planned"
{% endhint %}
{% endcolumn %}
{% endcolumns %}

{% hint style="success" %}
Once your scan is finished, **rename your project** to find it more easily by clicking the 3 dots at the top right in the app or the project name directly in the browser.
{% endhint %}

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>How to get your scan right (accuracy, best practices, tips)</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/the-scan/perform-a-scan.md#reussir-sa-capture">Perform a Scan</a></td></tr><tr><td>How do you rename your project?</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/data/files.md#visualiser-lensemble-des-informations-de-votre-projet">Files</a></td></tr><tr><td>Photos and comments on site</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/the-scan/perform-a-scan.md#enrichir-sa-capture">Perform a Scan</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Retrieve the surfaces

Once the scan is done, find your project on Visuary (visuary.app) from your computer or tablet — the plan is automatically synced.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Can't find your scan?</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/the-scan/solve-a-scan-issue.md#je-ne-retrouve-pas-ma-capture">Solve a Scan issue</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FmBWVOrahdG9Z0stpvC21%2Fparquet_metre.mp4?alt=media&token=689e6c64-0ce5-4d10-a1dd-fac03d1296d7>" %}

Once the project is open:&#x20;

1. From the 2D plan, open the Quantity takeoff button → and select Per room
2. Click on the floor of a room to rename it, the Quantity takeoff updates automatically
3. Switch to 3D view, you can view the default Finish / Covering applied<br>

{% hint style="info" %}
A Finish / Covering is applied by default from the scan — carpet in dry rooms, tile in wet rooms. The Quantity takeoff is therefore already readable without any action.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">**Open the Quantity takeoff tab to find, by room and globally:**</mark>

* Floor areas by Finish / Covering in m²
* Skirting board linear meters

{% hint style="warning" icon="user-question" %}
💡 Quantity takeoff updates automatically with each change to the plan.
{% endhint %}

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Quantity takeoff: all information and export</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/data/the-quantity-takeoff.md#elements-visibles-dans-le-metre">The quantity takeoff</a></td></tr><tr><td>Rename a room and change its numbering</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/floor-plan/the-rooms.md#modifier-lappellation-dune-piece">The rooms</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Apply your wood floor

On the Renovation floor plan, apply your wood floor over the default Finish / Covering to refine your Quantity takeoff and view the render.

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FaGKHlXobaxSuovmPmC4D%2Fparquet_apply.mp4?alt=media&token=ccf3f98f-1873-48fa-959e-42105720f563>" %}

1. Switch to the Renovation floor plan tab
2. Select the Finish / Covering tool
3. Switch to 3D view
4. Choose your wood floor in the Floor category
5. Apply it to each room by clicking on the floor
6. Retrieve the surface area of each applied wood floor in the Quantity takeoff.

{% hint style="info" %}
Adding Finish / Covering to skirting boards works differently; you can choose to apply the floor Finish / Covering, wall Finish / Covering, or the default Finish / Covering:&#x20;

💡 Create variants to offer several moods to your client — natural oak wood floor vs. dark-stained wood floor for example — without duplicating your project.

## Create a Reference plan

From the 2D plan, annotate the Zones directly to prepare the installation or pass instructions to your team or supplier. Review your comment Location pins and turn the key points to watch into text Annotation so they are readable directly on the plan.

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FeX4aqdAGRoKCbBoeiafG%2Fparquetage_%20plan_repe%CC%81rage.mp4?alt=media&token=4276f427-ba8e-4c39-ae9e-25d365b9346c>" %}

1. Review your comments from the Location pins on the plan
2. Activate the "Annotations" Layer by clicking the eye icon at the bottom right of the screen
3. Add a [text Annotation](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#les-annotations-textes) on each affected Zone — "Board replacement", "Step to be planned" and "Full sanding and oiling"\
   Use colors to distinguish information types
4. Use the "[Highlight](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#surligner)" tool to color the room and indicate the Finish / Covering used in this space using a Color code created with the "[Shape](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#forme)".&#x20;
5. Select the "[Polyline](/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#polyligne)" tool to draw lines highlighting specific elements — "Step to be planned"\
   If needed, activate the "Show segment lengths" option
6. You can also add dimensions visible from the Annotation tool — they will appear on the PDF if the **Measurement lines** Layer is enabled.
7. Go to the PDF report tab, unlock your 2D plan page and select the visible Layer and the plan version.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://4038224095-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2Fhh20ggLDWpEdcJ8S6Xng%2Fplan_rep_parquet.png?alt=media&amp;token=6cf3e188-4a3f-4bd9-9fa7-ea72e4f69ebc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" icon="lightbulb" %}
&#x20;The PDF report also includes a comments page with the plan and the details for each Location pin.
{% endhint %}

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Edit the pages of the PDF report </td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/sharing-and-export/pdf-report.md">PDF report</a></td></tr><tr><td>Choose your view modes</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/visualization/view-modes.md#les-differents-modes-de-vue">View modes</a></td></tr><tr><td>Select visible layers</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/visualization/view-modes.md#le-role-des-calques">View modes</a></td></tr><tr><td>Add visible measurements on the plan</td><td><a href="/guide-visuary-en/data/annotations.md#ligne-de-cotation">Annotations</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.visuary.com/guide-visuary-en/according-to-your-profession/parquet-flooring.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
