# From Survey / Measurement to Renovation proposal

### The Visuary project in 4 steps

The LiDAR scan automatically generates the existing floor plan on site. A 3D view of the scan remains available to visualize the surfaces of individual walls.

Reflects the existing state, site conditions: basis for the quantity takeoff before work and field data.

[**Renovation floor plan**](https://help.visuary.com/vos-premiers-projets-sur-visuary/du-releve-a-la-proposition-de-renovation#le-plan-renove)\
Model your renovation proposal (changes, finishes, equipment). Retrieve the quantity takeoff for the proposal and generate a cost estimate based on the differences with the existing floor plan. View and compare the two plans with the before/after view, create a reference plan, etc.

## **Capture view**&#x20;

**Capture view 3D** is the first step: a 3D view to retrieve **the individual areas and dimensions of walls and openings.**

To see the wall areas and dimensions in the Scan:&#x20;

1. **Click on the dot in the center of the walls whose area you want to know** (you can select the interior or exterior façades).&#x20;
2. The wall dimensions appear directly on the walls
3. The total area calculation is visible in "**Selected area**" and each selected wall is added to it
4. To exclude openings from the area calculation, uncheck "**Count openings**"
5. To include your sloped ceilings, check "Enable sloped-ceiling import" and "Re-import" (if you have already imported your plan)

## **The Existing floor plan**

The Existing floor plan shows the current state. It is generated automatically after the Scan and reflects the walls, openings, rooms and equipment in place.

**If you start from a Scan:**&#x20;

* [Enter the wall type](/guide-visuary-en/the-plan/the-walls.md#modifier-le-type-de-mur) — necessary for the['Export of heat loss surfaces](/guide-visuary-en/depending-on-your-trade/diagnostic-audit.md#exporter-lenveloppe-thermique) and to faithfully reflect the existing condition.&#x20;
* [Rename your rooms from the plan](/guide-visuary-en/the-plan/rooms.md#modifier-lappellation-dune-piece) — for clear labels in the [Quantity takeoff](/guide-visuary-en/data/quantity-takeoff.md), the Cost estimate, the [PDF report ](/guide-visuary-en/sharing-and-export/pdf-report.md)and the [exports](/guide-visuary-en/sharing-and-export/exports.md)
* [Add or edit existing equipment](/guide-visuary-en/the-plan/the-objects.md) — some are not detected automatically during the Scan, and their presence on the Existing floor plan allows [Cost estimate](/guide-visuary-en/data/the-cost-estimate.md) to calculate Removal / Demolition or element modifications by comparing it with the Renovation floor plan
