## If you have a reference plan

*If you already have a plan of the dwelling / housing unit, you can add it as a reference plan in the tool. It will serve as a visual support and let you easily recreate the plan by drawing over it, like a Layer.*\
\
Discover below the different steps to follow, from adding the plan to scaling it, explained step by step.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=17s&v=8cOz8NEoPIM>" %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The reference plan is visible locally on the device from which it was added**.

If you open the same project on another device, the reference plan will not be visible.\
To use it on a new device, you will need to add it again.
{% endhint %}

***

### To use a reference plan, follow the detailed steps below:

### Import a reference plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2Fj1DqSi8FVi4ZAJETZ2V6%2Fplan_ref_import.mp4?alt=media&token=19b0e1e1-962e-48b9-8498-836afbd1436d>" %}
Import a reference plan
{% endembed %}

To import a reference plan:

1. Click on the **3 dots** located in the top right of the screen
2. Click "**Reference plan**"
3. Click the button "**Click to browse**" and **select your file** (.jpg or .png format)

{% hint style="warning" %}
The reference plan must be in **png or .jpg format**. \
If your file is not in the correct format, we recommend using an [online converter](https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/acrobat/pdf-to-image?x_api_client_id=adobe_com\&x_api_client_location=pdf_to_image) or taking a screenshot of your plan.
{% endhint %}

### Scale a reference plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FMebiC2EwmPyvPZIltf2O%2Fplan_ref_echelle.mp4?alt=media&token=497f4335-cbed-4ef5-a653-b0a521c4c9e7>" %}
Scale a reference plan
{% endembed %}

To scale the reference plan:

1. **Select the red Dimension from its ends and place it at the level of the largest Dimension on the plan.**\
 To maximize scale accuracy, choose the largest Dimension. Don't hesitate to **zoom in very close** to the red scale, to grab its end so you can move it and choose its size.
2. **Enter the measurement** from the red Dimension line in the "Scale" text field at the top of your screen.
3. Once the scale is validated, click the button "**Validate"** then press the **Esc** key on your keyboard to remove the scale.

You can now start to [draw your plan](/guide-visuary-en/the-plan/the-walls.md) over your reference plan.

{% hint style="success" icon="lightbulb" %}
If the reference plan has already been scaled and positioned before, it will automatically restore those settings when added again.\
If you want to avoid this, **rename the file on your computer** to reset the saved scale and position.
{% endhint %}

### Move the reference plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FcZsLwzUjrUbVZM3iCh9Z%2Fplan_ref_de%CC%81placement.mp4?alt=media&token=2550cb91-fd50-4958-8ab9-d6fdbc0580e1>" %}
Move the reference plan
{% endembed %}

To move the reference plan on the Workspace:

1. **Hold down the Shift key** on your keyboard
2. While holding it, click the reference plan to select it, then **move it by dragging your mouse**.

### Adjust plan opacity

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2F8aRyAr8OWLYjW6XIyX3i%2Fplan_ref_opacite%CC%81.mp4?alt=media&token=e9c48460-4ddf-4b21-a8db-2776d1b46d39>" %}
Adjust the reference floor plan opacity
{% endembed %}

To adjust the plan opacity:

1. Use the "**Opacity**" slider at the bottom of the screen to make the plan drawn in Visuary transparent.

{% hint style="success" icon="lightbulb" %}
We recommend **setting the plan opacity to 60%** so you can view both the reference plan and the plan drawn in Visuary.
{% endhint %}

***

### Import a reference plan to compare, check, and correct an existing plan.

Whether your plan has already been drawn or was captured, you can add a reference plan to verify its accuracy and correct it if needed.

For this, follow [the same steps described earlier](#importer-un-plan-de-reference). Once the reference plan [scaled](#mettre-un-plan-de-reference-a-lechelle) you will be able to [move it](#deplacer-le-plan-de-reference) so you can position it over the existing plan.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pVVczAyC1o>" %}

***

### Hide the reference plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FKH1Qx4lNllSvr0CENIWI%2Fplan_ref_supprimer.mp4?alt=media&token=c6963d5d-4798-4efb-8474-9b55f1f66d91>" %}
Delete the reference plan
{% endembed %}

To hide the reference plan:

1. If you drew over the reference plan, **start by saving your changes**
2. Click the **3 dots** located in the top right of the screen
3. Click "**Reload**"

## Go further

* Specify the wall type, add insulation, etc.
* Integrate openings and add equipment and Furnishings

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.visuary.com/guide-visuary-en/your-first-projects-on-visuary/draw-a-plan.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
