# The plan page

### The Visuary project in 4 steps

Scan, Existing floor plan, Renovation floor plan and sharing

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2Ft1uFFzMqqWXHfHPQMGCW%2Fonboarding%20video%20V5.mp4?alt=media&token=26b722c8-1311-4031-8cd7-f482ae155ab3>" %}

<p align="center"><mark style="background-color:yellow;"><strong>Scan → Existing floor plan → Renovation floor plan → Sharing</strong></mark></p>

**Scan**\
The LiDAR scan automatically generates the existing floor plan on site. A 3D view of the scan remains available.

**Existing floor plan**\
Reflects the existing condition, the as-is state: basis for the quantity takeoff before work and field data.

**Renovation floor plan**\
Model your Renovation proposal (changes, finishes, equipment). Retrieve the proposal quantity takeoff and generate a cost estimate based on the differences with the existing floor plan. View and compare both plans with the Before/after view, create a Reference plan, etc.

**Sharing**\
Send in two clicks an interactive link, an annotated reference plan, or a PDF report to your client, colleagues, or contractors.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>How to go from the Survey / Measurement to the Renovation proposal</td><td><a href="/pages/3efb1269bb9f6a8cf282859222e26e6b0dffcb1a">/pages/3efb1269bb9f6a8cf282859222e26e6b0dffcb1a</a></td></tr><tr><td>Create a diagnostic report or audit</td><td><a href="/pages/b1dd282e34e8dab8863037b381c84c2812b27040">/pages/b1dd282e34e8dab8863037b381c84c2812b27040</a></td></tr><tr><td>Painting: Survey / Measurement, Quantity takeoff and installation plan</td><td><a href="/pages/a0819577c817b1c7abc1692de1d3fef08982775f">/pages/a0819577c817b1c7abc1692de1d3fef08982775f</a></td></tr><tr><td>Tiling: Survey / Measurement, Quantity takeoff and installation plan</td><td><a href="/pages/0463811e74d5f5a3c70c90521a529efd4fe8ba79">/pages/0463811e74d5f5a3c70c90521a529efd4fe8ba79</a></td></tr><tr><td>Parquet: Survey / Measurement, Quantity takeoff and installation plan</td><td><a href="/pages/367feca015e5d53d500b5d3b42bbaf5b8bbf0045">/pages/367feca015e5d53d500b5d3b42bbaf5b8bbf0045</a></td></tr><tr><td>Share the plans, comments, Quantity takeoff or complete file</td><td><a href="/pages/311abbeaa13ce2a3e87834c12088dee56dc844b5">/pages/311abbeaa13ce2a3e87834c12088dee56dc844b5</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

### Better understand the distinction between the Existing floor plan and the Renovation floor plan

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The distinction between the existing floor plan and the renovation floor plan is essential**, especially to get a [cost estimate](/guide-visuary-en/data/the-cost-estimate.md) reliable one: it is the comparison between the state **before** and **after the work** that makes it possible to generate a precise and consistent cost estimate.
{% endhint %}

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FpKJc9CInbgKEVLOkainD%2FScreen%20Recording%202026-07-07%20at%2015.03.06.mp4?alt=media&token=ee15f26d-5216-4d5a-9b68-ab8f9b6e6659>" %}

If you've made changes to the **Existing floor plan** after starting to work on the **Renovation floor plan**, a button will appear at the top of the screen in the Renovation floor plan tab, with a blue location pin next to the save button. If you click it, the tool will suggest that you "**Update"** the plan.

<p align="center"><img src="/files/cfb2ec532fa92b8ebcdd59286b35fbe6e3b03c1b" alt=""></p>

This action allows the Renovation floor plan to take exactly the same base as the Existing floor plan, **without causing you to lose your renovation proposals**.

{% hint style="success" icon="lightbulb" %}
**Always start by completing the Existing floor plan before starting your renovation proposals** in the Renovation floor plan tab, so that you no longer modify the Existing floor plan.
{% endhint %}

### Rename a project from the plan page

#### Rename a project on a computer

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FB6IInz3X3p7Ryl3wZe5K%2Frenommer_projet_ordi.mp4?alt=media&token=ae2f3d3b-b70d-4401-ba3c-8bfc3290e138>" %}

### **Save a project**

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FrHXuKmOH4eGnxQ7TsaMp%2Fsauvegarder_projet.mp4?alt=media&token=f35f3041-bbd0-42de-a1b4-1a7bf3576f6e>" %}
Save a project on Visuary
{% endembed %}

To save your project:&#x20;

1. A red dot appears on the save icon when the changes made have not yet been saved
2. **Click the save icon** to save your changes.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
**When the save icon blinks slowly, it means the save is in progress** but it is not finished. \
Make sure the icon turns completely black again before closing the project.
{% endhint %}

### Automatic saving

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FZZnuVM6sE2VPpmjraJlB%2Fsauvegarde_automatique.mp4?alt=media&token=3150abbb-9c01-4f3c-9527-6fdee572a69d>" %}
How automatic saving works
{% endembed %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Automatic saving is stored locally on the device from which the changes were made**.\
Therefore, if you open the same project from another device, the changes saved automatically cannot be restored.
{% endhint %}

To restore previously made changes:&#x20;

1. Click the button **"Restore"** which appears at the top of the screen
2. **Click the save icon** at the top right of the screen to permanently save the changes

If you do not want to restore the unsaved changes, click the button **"Ignore".**

{% hint style="success" icon="lightbulb" %}
If you use Visuary from a computer, you can **check that the saving was correctly** done by following the steps below:

1. Click the save icon to save your project.
2. Open a new tab in your browser and go to the same project.
3. Compare the content displayed in the two tabs.

**If the plan is identical in the two tabs, this means the save has been taken into account.**
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.visuary.com/guide-visuary-en/visuary-interface/the-plan-page.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
