# Import a plan

Convert a JPG, PNG or PDF plan into an editable plan

*If you already have a floor plan of the Dwelling / Housing unit, Visuary can automatically convert it into an editable floor plan: the walls are redrawn, without having to trace them manually.*

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FyUsIabUaDEp99nNudKmj%2FImport%20focus.mp4?alt=media&token=25495980-0ff5-4786-a9a8-4ce21f6f4dad>" %}

Import a floor plan
{% endembed %}

To import a plan:

1. From the page **Projects**, click on **New project**
2. Click on **Import a floor plan**. The tab **Reference plan** opens.
3. Click the **Click to browse** and **select your file**, or drag it directly into the import area.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The plan must be in **format .jpg, .png or .pdf.**
{% endhint %}

#### Scale the plan

*Scaling is required before you can convert the plan.*

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FkUUUzLTmofIKl8BNFZkT%2FEchelle2.mp4?alt=media&token=8bb3ed4f-5b8e-4f09-8adf-9a222c66cfce>" %}
Scale the plan
{% endembed %}

To scale the plan:

1. **Select the orange Dimension from its ends and place it on a known length of the plan.** To maximize accuracy, choose the largest Dimension.
2. **Enter the measurement** in cm in the field "**Scale**" located at the top left of your screen.
3. Click "**Validate**".

{% hint style="info" %}
Need to correct the scale? Re-do the scaling from the tab **Reference plan**, then convert the plan again.

**Warning: the Existing floor plan will be reset with this new scale.**
{% endhint %}

#### Convert an imported floor plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2FToE4XWnIWnfuBNf1AdFH%2FConvertir3.mp4?alt=media&token=f12bb577-1cb7-451c-a858-296f977c30f8>" %}
Convert an imported floor plan
{% endembed %}

To convert the plan:

1. Click "**Convert to editable floor plan (beta)**"
2. Wait while it converts. The message "*Your plan is being converted. This may take a few minutes.*" is displayed.
3. Once conversion is complete, the plan opens in the tab **Existing floor plan**.
4. The plan is directly editable: you can start working on it.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Automatic plan import is limited according to your subscription:

* **Without a subscription** : 2 conversions
* **Essentiel** : 5 conversions per month
* **Intégral** : 20 conversions per month

Your counter resets to zero on the 1st of each month. To see how many conversions you have left this month, hover over the "**Convert to editable floor plan (beta)**" button with your mouse.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Prefer to redraw the plan yourself? Click "**Use as a Layer**" instead: the plan will serve as a base for [drawing over it](https://help.visuary.com/vos-premiers-projets-sur-visuary/dessiner-un-plan#pour-utiliser-un-plan-de-reference-suivez-les-etapes-detaillees-ci-dessous).
{% endhint %}

#### Compare with the reference plan

*Plan conversion is currently in beta: the result may need a few adjustments.*

*Check the resulting plan by comparing it with the reference plan.*

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2F0FTSydFmesrRWJpGxJuc%2FOpacit%C3%A94.mp4?alt=media&token=63069876-a397-4b72-a612-7ea810c7aa14>" %}
Compare with the reference plan
{% endembed %}

To compare the two plans:

1. Use the "**Opacity**" slider at the bottom of the screen to make the converted plan transparent and see the original plan underneath.
2. If needed, correct the plan [by drawing the missing walls](https://help.visuary.com/le-plan/les-murs).

{% hint style="success" icon="lightbulb" %}
We recommend **setting the plan opacity to 60%** which will let you see both the reference plan and the drawn plan.
{% endhint %}

#### Move the reference plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2F7CFpEQlUQxICUVc0ipAl%2FD%C3%A9placer5.mp4?alt=media&token=5e9558c2-b6f4-4283-bae6-07f5116fde83>" %}
Move the reference plan
{% endembed %}

To move the reference plan on the Workspace:

1. **Hold down the Shift key** on your keyboard
2. While holding this key, click the reference plan to select it, then **move it by dragging your mouse**.

#### Hide the reference plan

{% embed url="<https://files.gitbook.com/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZFcDkdPcFkKsLAju8DW3%2Fuploads%2Fw7YV63e3HoSYF7kBN9qt%2FCalque6.mp4?alt=media&token=887819be-f7d1-4859-87cb-4811b0744a06>" %}
Hide the reference plan
{% endembed %}

To show or hide the original plan:

1. Click the '**eye icon**', at the bottom right, to display the list of layers.
2. Toggle the layer "**Reference plan**".

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.visuary.com/guide-visuary-en/plan-import/import-a-plan.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
