# Create a joinery quantity takeoff

> 📱 This article covers the features available on the plan **Essentiel**.

Get all the Dimensions of your openings and linear elements in just a few minutes — inside and outside — without measuring by hand.

***

### The Scan

With an iPhone Pro (12 or later) or an iPad Pro (2020 or later), carry out an accurate Survey / Measurement to 98% in minutes.

1. Open Visuary and tap **New scan** → How to succeed with Scan
2. Move your device through the space following the on-screen instructions
3. Tap the icon **Camera** to photograph the constraints (condition of the frames, reveals, out-of-plumb walls...) — the photo will be located on the plan
4. Press and hold to leave a **audio comment** on the points to watch

> 💡 Examples of useful comments: "Window/door reveal irregular, allow for correction" "Wooden door/window frame deteriorated, complete replacement"

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

Once the Scan is complete, press **Save and continue**. Check the comments and photos on the plan, verify the volumes in 3D.

### Get the Dimensions

Go back to Capture view:

Click directly on an Opening to view:

* **Width and height** of the opening
* **Sill height** (window sill height)
* **Area** of the Opening

On the Existing floor plan tab

Open the tab **Quantity takeoff** to find by room and overall:

* **List of all Opening types** with their Dimensions (doors, windows, patio doors)
* **Linear meter of reveals** in Linear meter
* **Linear meter of skirting boards** in Linear meter

> 💡 The Quantity takeoff updates automatically every time the plan changes.

### **Create a reference plan**

From the 2D plan, directly annotate each Opening with a number or label, then export the plan as a PDF. Ideal for preparing your order or sharing a reference document with your supplier or installer.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.visuary.com/guide-visuary-en/depending-on-your-trade/create-a-joinery-quantity-takeoff.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
