# The Cost estimate

<figure><img src="/files/7c8b595bff22a669b42618aef4edb8e4a7145d7e" alt="L&#x27;estimatif sur Visuary "><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

1. Make sure your Existing floor plan reflects the current state as closely as possible by filling in, for example, the type of walls, windows, etc. This will give you a reliable basis for your estimate.
2. Carry out your Renovation proposal in the Renovation floor plan tab by adding the different elements to the plan, such as objects and finishes.
3. The cost estimate is generated automatically based on the changes made to the renovated floor plan

{% hint style="info" %}
**The cost estimate is available only in the Renovation floor plan tab.** **It is calculated from the differences between the Existing floor plan** (representing the current state) **and the renovated floor plan on which you build your renovation proposal.**&#x20;
{% endhint %}

<h2 align="center">Manually add lines in the cost estimate</h2>

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Manual addition of items on the quote should concern only items with no impact on the plan**, for example a commercial discount or a flat fee. \
\
**For any item that must appear on the plan, place the item on the plan: the line will be generated automatically in the cost estimate.** Indicating an item such as "adding a socket" without placing it on the plan will make the plan and your quantities inaccurate.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.visuary.com/guide-visuary-en/data/the-cost-estimate.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
